Branches

Branches Heading up and bowing down, Touching my heart and my chakra crown. Leading me on and never astray, Raising my vibration, held in your sway.  Bringing my eyes to look at your skies, Opening my heart to a much greater size. Telling me stories of wisdom and meaning, Showing me places where I have been leaning. Giving me courage to offer my song, Singing it for me when I feel forlorn. Touching my shoulder with gentle reminder, To greet each soul with a spirit that's kinder. Blending my spirit with bluejay and flower, Dancing with more joy, every second, each hour. Oh teacher, oh holy, oh wonders astounding, Bending your beauty to each one surrounding.  Darlene Brewer, Public Gardens, May 1, 2017

Deep Into Virtue - The Way of the Heroine/Hero

Glenn: It's always a beautiful thing, to see individuals do good deeds. I often think about - each time I'm seeing it - what's in their minds, who they are, where they come from, what they've been through...what they are going through now! I know each is different so I look for, and try to find, the common thread(s) that link them. It's important to me - these virtuous...their virtues. Not a likely thing that I'll be interviewing them ha. But, if I turn inward, to what prompts ME, to do good things, (that I "sometimes" try to do ha), then I'm sure I'll find some reasonable answers.  We all know about "Heroines/Heroes". They're the ones who jump into the lake to save a drowning person, or rescue someone from a cliff, or emerge from the flames with a survivor. And there are many more heroic feats - all of the countless other heroes/heroines - NOT celebrated. We know them and we cite their virtues and we sing them in our songs. They ...

Joyful Meanderings

My brother in law brings great joy to my life, through our many conversations  much laughter, and positive energy that is generated between us when we are not even chatting online or in person. He s a light in my life and brings out the best in me, nurtures my spirit and creates an enthusiasm in my life for living. We are kindred spirits and so, we have created this blog. I want to write more, and we both do, and so here we are.  When I think about joy I think about sacred conversations and how sacred every conversation really is. I seek to honour every person with whom I am n dialogue; be it a stranger, a close friend, or my most loved and cherished ones. As a Christian I am called to live with joy each day. I believe Jesus lived his life on a foundation of love and joy and started a movement because of it. Joy is for everyone. We can all feel it easily and spontaneously.  One of my favourite writers, Leo Buscaglia, said this about living, " Too often we underestimate th...

Beginnings

Glenn: Just started a blog. Darlene and I have had some great conversations. And in our conversations we share ideas. We are interested in many things: Joy, Connection, Freedom, and Meaning are among them. :-) So we're testing the waters with YOU. :-) More to come. Hope you're with us, too. :-)

Return to Consciousness

Glenn: I firmly believe that there is - now, more than ever - a critical need for return to consciousness. It's a broad consideration for sure, so I like to start with consciousness-in-meaning. I feel, since it's natural for us as humans to be in search of meaning that we can learn to recognize how important it can become to be always aware of this search. Like sprinkling of spices on food - I believe we CAN sprinkle meaning on each item of the "food" of our lives. Every event and every experience has something for our attention. That attention is "what does this mean?" or "I wonder" - the spice sprinkle in our perpetual return to conscious meaning.
