Joyful Meanderings
My brother in law brings great joy to my life, through our many conversations much laughter, and positive energy that is generated between us when we are not even chatting online or in person. He s a light in my life and brings out the best in me, nurtures my spirit and creates an enthusiasm in my life for living. We are kindred spirits and so, we have created this blog. I want to write more, and we both do, and so here we are.
When I think about joy I think about sacred conversations and how sacred every conversation really is. I seek to honour every person with whom I am n dialogue; be it a stranger, a close friend, or my most loved and cherished ones. As a Christian I am called to live with joy each day. I believe Jesus lived his life on a foundation of love and joy and started a movement because of it. Joy is for everyone. We can all feel it easily and spontaneously.
One of my favourite writers, Leo Buscaglia, said this about living, "Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." When we live with spontaneity we turn towards one another in joy. A therapist once said to me that I tended to edit myself. It took for some time to realize the meaning of this statement. We often do just that, stop ourselves from truth-telling boldness, sharing what is on our minds and in our hearts. We can learn, and I am learning, how to allow myself to love, to be loved, and to speak with boldness and fullness of speech and feeling. It takes a lifetime. One of the places I find great joy is the adventure of writing.
When I am filled with joy it bubbles over and my radiance appears to others, and it works that way when I experience joy in others, too. We can always know joy, even in the midst of challenging times in our lives and in the world. I love and embrace the world and the earth and seek to find and express the joy I find it. Thanks for joining with us on this journey of joy!
In peace,
Darlene
